The article has convinced you to add cucumber to your diet on a daily basis.

In spite of its unassuming appearance, the cucumber is a nutritious and refreshing summertime vegetable. Cucumbers, thanks to their high water content and abundance of beneficial vitamins and minerals, can help you look and feel better from the inside out. Water-balancing electrolytes are among the many ways in which cucumbers can help you feel refreshed and revived.

Vegetable cucumbers belong to the same Cucurbita family as pumpkins and melons. The length and width of this thing are both arbitrary. Typically, the shell will be a deep green color, while the meat will be nearly see-through. The vegetable is easy to cultivate and widely available all over the world; it has a crunchy texture and great flavor.

The main health benefits of cucumber are as follows:

Purges toxins from the system

Since cucumbers contain a lot of water, they help flush the system of toxins and waste and can even dissolve kidney stones.

2. An excellent mineral source

Magnesium, silicon, and potassium are just a few of the many minerals found in cucumbers that the body uses.

Thirdly, a fantastic vitamin source

Vitamins A, B, and C found in cucumbers contribute to improved health and a stronger immune system.

4. Prevents and treats diabetes, and controls blood pressure and cholesterol

In addition to lowering cholesterol and stabilizing blood sugar, the vegetable's high fiber, potassium, and magnesium content make it a powerful anti-inflammatory food.

Regular consumption of vegetables has additional benefits for blood pressure control.

Fights cancer 5.

Lignans, secoisolariciresinol, lariciresinol, and pinoresinol are all anti-carcinogenic compounds found in cucumbers that have been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in various organs.

Maintains proper hydration levels

Because of its high water content, the vegetable will help maintain your skin's and other tissues' health.

7. It's good for your kidneys

In addition to benefiting your kidneys, eating cucumbers can help lower your blood levels of uric acid.

Eighth, it helps your joints stay healthy.

Minerals found in cucumbers, like silicon, have been shown to strengthen joints and connective tissues and alleviate pain associated with inflammatory conditions like arthritis and gout.

9 Helps with digestion and keeping the weight down

Cucumbers are great for dieting because they are high in water content and low in calories. In addition, the high fiber content will aid in healthy bowel movements.

Improves hair and nail health, for example

Minerals like sulfur and silicon, found in cucumbers in good amounts, are essential for healthy hair and nails.

Eleven. Improves dental hygiene and prevents bad breath.

Cucumber juice has been shown to be beneficial for gum health and mouth inflammation. Cucumbers' phytochemicals can help eliminate bad breath-causing bacteria and prevent their return.

Prevents and treats sunburns

A quick and easy remedy for sunburns is to apply cucumber slices directly to the skin.

Fantastic for preventing hangovers

Water, electrolytes, and vitamin B, all of which the body needs after a night of drinking, are abundant in cucumbers, making them one of the best foods to eat to recover from a hangover. Consuming some vegetables prior to bedtime has been recommended by experts as a means of counteracting the impact of alcohol.

14--Lessens the look of bags and puffiness under the eyes

The vegetable's potent anti-inflammatory properties can help lessen puffiness and bagginess around the eyes.

15 Impressive gustatory skills

Because of their delicious flavor and abundance of health benefits, cucumbers have quickly become one of the world's most widely consumed vegetables. In addition to juicing, their excellent flavor makes them suitable for eating raw.

Clogged arteries, high blood fat, infections, and the common cold can all be treated with these three ingredients.

There are only three ingredients in this remedy that can prevent and treat atherosclerosis, high blood fat levels, infections, and the common cold. All diseases can be treated without the use of pharmaceuticals. Natural remedies are effective in treating and preventing certain diseases. If you want to prevent and treat a wide range of illnesses—from the common cold to cardiovascular disease—with just three ingredients, you'll be set.

Always remember to evaluate the advantages of taking this wonderful combination versus taking either component separately.

In this article, we will examine a traditional German remedy for improving general health; it consists of only three ingredients: garlic, lemon, ginger, and water.

Benefits:

No. 1: Garlic

Due to its antibacterial, antiviral, and antiseptic properties, garlic is widely hailed as one of the healthiest foods on the planet. Allicin, a compound found in garlic, promotes health and vitality.

Secondly, Ginger:

In addition to aiding with gastrointestinal issues, pain, inflammation, and nausea, ginger is full of anti inflammatory and anti bacterial compounds like gingerols, beta carotene, caffeic acid, and curcumin.

#3 Lemon:

Because of its alkalizing and immune-enhancing properties, lemon is often recommended as a means of disease prevention.

In addition to preventing fatigue and fatty buildup in the arteries, this all-natural beverage can also help keep blood sugar levels stable.

Regular consumption of this beverage has been shown to improve both liver health and immunity.

What You'll Need to Make This Delicious Dish:

Drinking Water, 2 Liters

Equal to 4 hefty garlic heads

Cute little bit of ginger

Four lemons

The first step in the preparation process is to wash the lemons and then cut them into thin slices. In preparation, peel the garlic cloves and ginger root and set them aside.

Put everything in a blender and blitz it until it's a thick, uniform consistency.

Put the ingredients in a metal bowl and fill it with two liters of water.

Bring this concoction to a boil, then turn off the heat and set it aside to cool to room temperature.

You can now strain the liquid and pour it into bottles made of glass.

Direction:

Every morning on an empty stomach or before meals, drink one glass bottle of this concoction.

3 ingredients that treat atherosclerosis, high blood fat, infections, and the common cold!

Have You Developed An Infertility Problem? Vaginismus Could Be the Cause.

We all know the strength of a woman's genitalia (hell, yeah, we can bring a human into the world, right? ), but some women simply can't have sex.

They would like to, but they simply cannot at this time. It's not that they're afraid of having sexual encounters; rather, their vaginas simply won't allow for any kind of penetration, including tampons and gynecological exams (pap tests).

One of these women might be interested in learning more about vaginismus and vaginismus.

Simply put, what is vaginismus?

Not to be confused with vaginitis (an infection or inflammation of the vagina). Vaginismus, also spelled vaginismus, refers to a woman's resistance to any form of vaginal penetration, including sexual activity, manual penetration, the use of tampons or menstrual cups, and gynecological exams like pap smears.

When a woman suffers from vaginismus, the sensation of pain during vaginal penetration is intense. The pain prevents sex or any penetration because it is caused by an involuntary spasm of the vaginal muscles in response to the attempted penetration.

Is this, then, an intentional action? No. Like the reflex you have when something is about to poke you in the eye and you automatically close your eye, a woman with vaginismus cannot voluntarily stop the spasm.

Dyspareunia, defined as painful sexual intercourse due to medical or psychological causes, was found to affect approximately 18%-20% of British and Australian women.

Women often don't learn they have vaginismus until they're in their teens or early twenties when they try out tampons for the first time or have their first sex or pap smear.

I'm curious as to the root cause.

Although the exact cause of vaginismus has yet to be determined, doctors have speculated that the pubococcygeus muscle (also known as the "PC muscle") may be to blame for the spasm that causes pain during penetration. However, they also point to muscle spasms as a possible source of the pain, specifically in the levator ani, bulbocavernosus, circumvaginal, and perivaginal muscles.

What causes vaginismus, and how can it be prevented?

Primary vaginismus is when a woman experiences pain during every sex or vaginal penetration, and secondary vaginismus is when a woman who was able to allow penetration in the past develops vaginismus due to something like a yeast infection or birth trauma.

Mental and physiological factors contribute to the development of vaginismus. Among these are:

Physical:

Urinary tract infections vulvar vestibulitis syndrome focal vaginitis so-called sub-clinical inflammation in which no pain is perceived until some form of penetration is attempted

yeast infections of the genitalia

chronic pain conditions domestic violence or conflict of a similar nature in early life sexual abuse, rape, or other sexual assault or attempted sexual abuse or assault

Psychological:

bearing witness to sexual or physical abuse without experiencing it oneself

a phobia of pain caused by needles, needle sticks, or any other invasive physical trauma (not necessarily involving or even near the genitals)

negative emotional reaction to sexual stimulation as a whole

Anxiety about being powerless

Distrust in one's intimate partner

Dissatisfaction with one's physical appearance

Sexual misunderstandings

Worry that one's genitalia aren't sufficiently large or deep

Paranoia about a partner's enlarged penis

What kind of care do you plan to give it?

Worry not, for there are treatments available for vaginismus.

the toxins produced by the bacterium Botrytis (Botox)

Since it temporarily decreases pelvic floor muscle hypertonicity, it is a treatment option that doctors may consider. While there are no randomized controlled trials of this treatment available, preliminary results from smaller studies suggest it may be beneficial.

medication for anxiety and depression

Anxiolytics, antidepressants, and other pharmacotherapies may be prescribed by doctors for anxiety-related conditions, but their efficacy is debatable at best.

Regular Practice of the Kegel Muscles

Kegel exercises and additional lubricants are typically prescribed to women who report painful sexual encounters.

When a woman is anxious or in pain, she may not naturally lubricate, so lubricants can help with successful penetration. Kegel exercises are helpful for strengthening and relaxing the muscles that tighten unconsciously during vaginismus.

When you need to stop the flow of urine, practice Kegel exercises by contracting those muscles. Tend to this position for ten seconds, and then let the tension go. Depending on your schedule, you can do this as many as twenty times a day.

After a few days, if you're feeling confident, you can perform the exercises with one finger (nails clipped) inserted into the vagina up to the first knuckle joint. Try doing it in the tub with some water acting as a natural lubricant, or use some lubricating jelly.

Your vaginal muscles will tighten as you move from one finger to three. In the event that it causes you any discomfort, you can always take it off.

If neither of these options is successful, therapy may be an option.

Learn the Proper Way to Clean Your Vulva and Genital Areas

Do you want to know the best method for vaginal hygiene? You won't need to, despite popular belief. The first order of business is a refresher course in fundamental anatomy. However, the term "vagina" actually only refers to the canal inside your body, despite the common misconception that it encompasses all of a woman's sexual organs. Washing your vagina is unnecessary because only your vulva needs to be cleaned.

Here's why you shouldn't go wash your privates every day

Imagine that your vagina is a home that gets cleaned automatically by a maid once a week. On Wednesdays, your house will be cleaned so you can relax knowing it's ready for you to return. The same holds true for your vagina. It takes care of itself, literally. But how does it accomplish this feat?

It keeps itself clean through secretions and keeps its pH at a healthy level. There are lots of healthy bacteria in your vagina. The vagina's naturally acidic pH is maintained in part by the bacteria living there. When your vaginal pH is low, it's more challenging for harmful bacteria to invade and cause infection.

Perhaps you have wondered if it's recommended to use soap when cleaning your vagina. To put it simply, no. It is possible to change the vagina's natural pH when using other products, such as scented soaps, feminine washes, and douches. Avoiding contact is the gold standard for vaginal hygiene.

A Guide to Vaginal Hygiene

On the other hand, washing your vulva is an entirely different story. To keep yourself clean and healthy, you should regularly wash your vulva.

Flush your vulva with warm water. Every day, wash the vaginal area gently with a bar of plain, unscented soap.

Split your lips open and use a damp washcloth or your hands to gently scrub the crevices. It's important to keep soap and water out of your vaginal area.

In the alternative, you can pat the area dry with a towel.

Don't forget to clean the area between your vulva and anus every day as well. When you wash from your vulva to your anus, you eliminate the potential for bacteria to spread from your anus to your vagina.

Is there a particular feminine wash that is the most effective at removing stale vulvar material?

The truth is that using no feminine wash at all is the most effective method of vulvar hygiene. Water and (possibly) a mild soap are the best choices.

The vagina's natural pH can be disrupted or caused to drop by using products with a lot of additives, such as fragrances.

However, there are items available that can be used to keep skin hydrated and odor free in between baths. But shop with caution just the same. Flavorings and other additives can cause dryness and alter the vaginal pH, so they should be avoided whenever possible. Because of the proximity of the vulva to the vagina, it is possible that some of the substance may enter the vagina. It's also unnecessary to use perfume around the genital area.

If you're going to buy something to clean your vulva, look for features like these.

Scent-free\sDermatologist-tested

Hypoallergenic

During your period, how frequently should you clean the vulva?

Having good vaginal hygiene is especially important during your period and may help you feel more at ease.

Preventing Period Discomfort with Proper Vaginal Hygiene

There's no need to panic if you get some blood on your privates; just wash it off with some soap and water. It's possible that using a feminine hygiene product on your thighs is safe, but you should be cautious about putting it anywhere near your vulva. It's close enough to your vagina to enter and throw off the pH balance. Vulvitis, which can lead to discomfort during s*x due to itching or burning, may also develop.

Use plain water or lukewarm water with mild soap instead of anything harsh when washing your vulva.

Tips for preventing and treating vulvar odor

The elimination of vulvar odor requires more than just a vulvar hygiene routine. Some vaginal odor is normal, but you may also notice an unpleasant odor now and then. The smell of your vaginal area fluctuates frequently; for example, it may change before, during, or after your period. Furthermore, a significant change in vaginal odor, especially if accompanied by vaginal discharge, may be an indicator of a more serious problem, such as an infection. If this is the case, you should probably see a doctor.

There is a natural range of vaginal odors, but you may also notice some unpleasant odors. Your vaginal scent fluctuates frequently; for example, it may change when you have your period or after you have sex.

Vaginal odor can be avoided in the future by remembering these steps once the cause has been found and removed.

Make sure you're using safe sexual practices. Always use condoms and get checked for STIs to protect yourself and your partner from the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

Eat well to stay healthy. Vaginal health, like overall health, benefits from a diet rich in whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.

Take care to maintain an adequate fluid intake. Fluid release and healthy sweating are aided by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

Please don't use any kind of douche or other feminine washes. The vagina's natural pH balance can be disrupted by using these products, which can do more harm than good.

Don't forget to wash your genitalia before and after making love. It's important to wash your vulva and pubic area before and after sex to prevent the spread of bacteria and the introduction of foreign substances like lubricants.

Hygiene practices for the genital area

If you've ruled out a medical cause but are still struggling to get rid of vaginal odor, these strategies may help.

Improving Your Vaginal Hygiene

Maintain sanitary vaginal and vulvar hygiene. Vaginal hygiene includes regular washings with a washcloth and water or mild soap to remove any accumulated bacteria from the vaginal exterior. Keep in mind that using scented body washes or other specialized feminine products can change the vagina's natural pH.

Cotton underwear is recommended. Silk, satin, and polyester ties are not nearly as breathable as cotton ones. Cotton is superior to synthetics in wicking moisture away from the body. Bacterial growth and other issues, like yeast infections, can be exacerbated by too much moisture.

Take a product's pH into account. To achieve a more acidic vaginal pH, you can try using some OTC products.

If you have tried these remedies and they have not worked, your doctor may be able to offer additional assistance.

Bottom line

Cleaning your vagina is unnecessary because it cleans itself, but you should always maintain a sanitary vulva. All you need is some soap and some hot water. Wearing cotton underwear, eating healthily, and regularly washing the outside of the vagina are all great ways to keep your vagina clean and healthy.

Make this powerful mixture to clean the bathroom and remove the bad smell.

Today I want to share with you this wonderful recipe that will help you get rid of the pee smell in your bathroom once and for all.

The bad smell in the bathroom is quite unpleasant, isn’t it?

That’s when it’s good to have a tip like this always at hand. I like these tips because they are easy to make, you probably have all the ingredients in the house, the recipe lasts a long time and can be used over and over again.

Speaking of bathrooms, I’ve a bonus tip at the end of the video for anyone who needs to get the mold out of their bath towels.

Tell me, are you the person who cleans the bathrooms in your house?

For this recipe you’ll need: 2 liters of water, 1 bottle of hydrogen peroxide 9%. Stir well until everything is homogeneous. Add 3 tablespoons of baking soda and keep stirring.

Now add 2 tablespoons of detergent of your choice ( the kind you have at home to wash your dishes). Mix very well. Once it’s all mixed well, you can store it in any container you like.

I usually put some in a spray bottle and the rest in a jar to use throughout the month. I use this mixture as a disinfectant to clean the toilet.

I use the spray bottle to clean the outside of the toilet bowl   and the rest of the recipe I use to clean the inside, once or twice a week,  but you can clean as often as you like depending on your routine.

Now for the extra tip:

To remove mildew in your bath towel, use a solution of baking soda and vinegar. This won’t damage the fabric or affect the absorbency of the towel.

For this reason, this mixture of baking soda and vinegar is great. All you’ve to do is dip the towel in a bowl of hot water.

In a separate container, put 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Mix this solution a little until it foams slightly.

Then take the towel out of the bowl of hot water and apply the solution of vinegar and baking soda. Scrub the stain with a brush and wait for about 15 minutes.

Then put the towel in the washing machine and use white vinegar instead of fabric softener.

Pretty simple, isn’t it? Did you like today’s tip?

Don’t forget to like and share the video with your friends and family!

9 Signs You Are Getting Too Much Estrogen

The clock swings in both directions. The problem with commuting is that they are only in the balance, in the middle, for a short time.

For years, when a woman approaches menopause, she is automatically prescribed estrogen to deal with these symptoms. In 2002, an HRT study sparked panic, causing women to escape estrogen, causing them to suffer unnecessarily from menopause. Somewhere in between is the truth.

If you or someone you love is over 35, look at the 10 symptoms of estrogen-dominant ness below, and if you feel you have these symptoms, contact your doctor to get the correct diagnosis.

1. Breast swelling.

Dr. Lam says one of the most common symptoms of estrogen dominance is breast swelling and breast swelling again.

Remember what it was like to be a teenager?

Well, if you think so, you may need to make an appointment with your doctor.

2. Delicate breasts.

Another symptom, according to Dr. Lin, maybe that if you are hugged, your breasts will hurt.

This may be because they grow again, or because of fibrous tissue.

3. Thyroid dysfunction.

Dr. Northrop points out that the control of estrogen can also lead to thyroid dysfunction, which affects many other areas of the body.

4. Mood swings.

Another symptom that Dr. Northrop lists are mood swings that make you irritable or depressed.

PMS that happened at the first foundation has come back to haunt you.

5. Swollen hands.

6. You can’t wear shoes.

Unfortunately, swelling not only stays in the hands, but is often dominated by estrogen, feet also swell, and women complain that they can no longer wear their shoes.

7. Abdominal fat.

Dr. Northrup says the use of obesity, especially around the abdomen, is more a sign that estrogen dominates.

According to Dr. Northrup, people who may have too much estrogen sometimes feel like they’re working in thick fog. Memory is there. .places.

You just can’t find it.

9. Endometriosis.

Dr. Lin agrees that endometriosis may be a sign that too much estrogen is to blame.

These Early Signs Of Diabetes Are Not To Be Ignored In Any Case

It shouldn't come as a surprise to us that one-third of the population that is affected by this ailment is unaware that they have this condition because type II diabetes is a contemporary disease, and its symptoms are quite simple to ignore.

Due to the fact that diabetes can lead to major problems like damage to the nervous system or the cardiovascular system, early identification is of utmost significance. Diabetes should be handled very seriously.

In order to keep diabetes under control and for a normal life to be led, we need to maintain a healthy diet, continue to take our prescribed medications, and engage in consistent physical activity.

Be on the lookout for these diabetic red flags in order to keep your health in good standing.

In 2013, there were 382 million individuals diagnosed with diabetes, the vast majority of whom had type II diabetes. This is a metabolic disorder that can be recognized by abnormally high amounts of glucose or sugar in the blood.

The pancreas secretes insulin, which is a hormone that maintains the correct level of sugar in the blood. Diabetes results in either a reduced generation of insulin or cells that are resistant to its effects. When this occurs, you will notice some of the symptoms that are listed below:

Increased hunger is a result of abnormally high or low levels of blood sugar, which causes an increase in the desire to eat. When cells do not receive enough sugar, the body begins to develop a need for it.

Dry mouth: A dry mouth is a breeding ground for germs, which can lead to oral and dental problems. Diabetes can lead to complications such as this as well as gum disease.

Fatigue results from the body's attempt to make up for the absence of glucose by compensating in other ways. People who have diabetes frequently experience fatigue and may have a foul disposition as a result of their low sugar levels.

Infections caused by yeast Bacteria and fungus flourish in environments with a high concentration of sugar. Infections caused by yeast are quite frequent in diabetics, particularly vaginal candida infections in females.

Alterations in the skin: A darkening of the skin on the neck, groin, or armpits, in conjunction with a tingling sensation, may be an indication of diabetes.

Diabetes causes damage to blood vessels, which leads to bruising, wounds, and infections that do not heal. When there is a high level of sugar in the blood, veins and arteries become less capable of delivering blood to areas of the body that require repair.

Weight gain or loss that cannot be explained: Cravings and an increase in the amount of sugar consumed will lead to weight gain. Or, if the cells don't get enough glucose, they'll start breaking down the proteins in the muscle, which will result in a rapid and significant loss of weight.

The need to urinate often (polyuria): The kidneys exerting additional effort to clear the body of high blood sugar can produce frequent desires to urinate at all hours of the day and night, which can be an early warning sign of diabetes.

The frequent impulse to eat is produced by dramatic lows and highs of blood sugar levels. This is because the cells are being starved due to a shortage of glucose, which leads to polyphagia, which is an increase in hunger.

Polydipsia, also known as extreme thirst, is caused by the kidneys' attempt to eliminate the excess sugar in the blood, which results in the loss of additional water and a persistent feeling of dehydration.

Vision problems High blood sugar can alter the structure of the eye and the lens, which can cause a blurring of vision. Possible symptoms include wavy or blurry vision as well as frequent bright flashes. Sugar can cause vision loss over time if it's consumed in excessive amounts.

Diabetes can cause damage to the blood arteries and nerves in the genital organs, which can result in erectile dysfunction in men and vaginal dryness in women. Between 35 and 75 percent of men who have diabetes develop impotence, either temporarily or permanently.

Diabetes can cause neuropathy, which manifests as symptoms such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. There is a possibility that tingling and numbness will be followed by swelling and searing pain. If high blood sugar levels are maintained for an extended length of time, which is a major issue, the damage may become irreversible.

If you experience some of these symptoms, you should talk to your doctor about it and get some blood tests done to determine whether or not you have type II diabetes. Only a select few tests can produce trustworthy findings. The fasting plasma glucose test is conducted after the patient has abstained from food and drink for 8 hours; diabetes is diagnosed when the patient has two consecutive readings of blood sugar that are greater than 126 mg/dl. Even readings between 100 and 125 mg/dl should raise concern since they might suggest a pre-diabetic state in the body.

elements of danger

You don't need to be concerned because diabetes can be avoided to some extent. You can avoid having this ailment altogether by ensuring that your lifestyle does not include any of the following risk factors:

Overweight, visceral obesity, and abdominal fat

Smoking

consuming an inordinate amount of processed and fast food, an excessive amount of red meat, refined sugar, and harmful fats. Even just one can of Coke can increase the likelihood of developing diabetes by 22 percent.

Inactivity in physical pursuits

What further steps might you be able to take? Make an effort to eat healthily, steer clear of these unhealthy behaviors, keep your stress level to a minimum, and lead a lifestyle that is both active and healthful.

What happens to your health when you sleep on your left side?

People sleep in different ways based on what makes them feel the most comfortable. Those of you who sleep on your left side get different health benefits. Even if you think you've found the best way to sleep for you, you should try to sleep on your left side if you can. If you're still not sure, take a look at the benefits of sleeping on your left side.

Why is it better to sleep on your left side?

Better flow of lymph through the system

The lymphatic system's main job is to get rid of toxins and other waste from the body. The lymphatic system is thought to drain into the thoracic duct, which is on the left side. This is why it can be good to sleep on your left side. It will help get rid of the trash faster. Also, this part of the body collects protein that has gotten out of cells. When you sleep on your left side, the proteins can get where they need to go.

stops liver congestion.

Because the liver is on the right side, if you have been sleeping on that side, it can become clogged up. To avoid this, sleep on your left side so that the liver can neutralize substances and toxins before they are thrown out or stored in the liver.

Spleens that work better

The spleen is on the left side of the body and is part of the lymphatic system. If you sleep in this position, it will help this organ work better. This is because gravity helps blood get to the spleen and lets it filter out all the waste.

No heartburn at night

If you have acid reflux or GERD, try sleeping on your left side instead of your right. When in this position, the stomach is below the cardiac sphincter, which connects the esophagus to the stomach. If you sleep on your left side, the food in your stomach won't go back up into your esophagus and cause reflux.

How pregnant women should stand

This is the best way for pregnant women to sleep, especially in the last trimester, because it improves blood flow and protects the liver from extra weight by letting it work at its best.

It's good for your heart

The left side of the heart pumps blood toward the rest of the body. If you sleep on your left side, your heart will work better even while you are sleeping.

Why a healthy gut is important

The connection between the large and small intestines is at the IV or ileocecal valve. If you sleep on your left side, you will help your body get rid of waste and move waste from your small intestine to your large intestine. This is how gravity does its job and helps you go to the bathroom regularly.

What are dental dams all about?

When it comes to sex barriers, condoms seem to get all the praise. This leaves other tools for sexual health in the dust, like dental dams.

Even though I teach people about sex, I don't know much about dental dams. So when a gay friend of mine asked about using them, it got my attention, and I knew that other people would be interested in the same thing.

So, dental dams, now is your chance to show us what you're all about!

What Does a Dental Dam Do?

No, it's not something your dentist uses to fix your teeth. However, they may use them to protect themselves during dental procedures. It does more than just protect that.

A dental dam is a way to protect the mouth during oral sex. Most of the time, they are made of polyurethane or latex.

They are basically a sheet that goes over the opening of the vagina or anus when oral sex is happening.

What Benefits Do Dental Dams Have?

The biggest benefit of dental dams is that they stop sexually transmitted infections from spreading. They are mostly used for oral sex, and they protect against many STIs and pubic lice, including herpes, HPV, HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and hepatitis.

Many people think that penetrative sex is the only way STIs can be spread, but oral sex can also do this.

Not only do they help prevent STIs, but they are also used for rim jobs, which are things that are spread through oral-anal sex. When you use your mouth to stimulate someone's anus, you might come into contact with feces that has bacteria like E. coli or Shigella or intestinal parasites. Dental dams help keep this from happening.

Because they are used in oral sex, dental dams are more popular in queer communities. Still, this safety measure is helpful for everyone, no matter who they are having sex with.

You can use dental dams with lube like a condom. It's recommended to help keep things from breaking. Just make sure it's made of water or silicone so it doesn't break down the dental dam material like oil-based products can. Find out more about how to choose the best lube for you.

Are there any bad things about dental dams?

If you're allergic to latex, don't use just any dental dam. There are a lot of dental dams on the market that don't use latex and are safe for people with allergies. You might just have to plan ahead and order online or make your own with a condom that is safe for people with allergies. There's more about this at the end of this article.

Dental dams shouldn't be used to prevent pregnancy because they are meant for oral sex, not to stop pregnancy.

To fully avoid STIs, you should use a new dental dam every time you have oral sex. You should put it on before you start and leave it on until you're done. Don't stretch the dental dam, because that could cause it to break.

Just like with a condom, you want to make sure there are no tears or other problems and that you've checked the expiration date. Most dental dams can be used for about five years. Make sure to keep them in a cool, dry place so they don't break down as quickly.

If you're using a dental dam, don't flip it over once it's touched the person's anus or vagina, because that could let you get exposed to the fluids you're trying to keep away. If the dental dam moves while you're having sex, you or your partner may need to hold it in place.

Another problem with dental dams is that people may not like them. Some people prefer completely clear dental dams so they can see what they are doing. Like with condoms, some people may not like how the dental dam tastes. Many different companies make them with different flavors, and you can always try a flavored lube with it.

DIY Dental Dams

Even though it might seem risky, dental dams can be used to make a sexual barrier method. You may have heard of people making their own dental dams out of rubber gloves or saran wrap, but if you do this, choose condoms that are already made to protect against STIs.

Do you want to be clever?

On the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), you can find a step-by-step guide with pictures. All you need is a condom, a pair of scissors, and steady hands.

Carefully open the package and unroll the condom.

Just below the pointy end, cut off the tip of the condom.

Cut the condom off at the bottom, above where it is rolled.

Cut one side of the tube open.

Lay flat over the anus or the opening of the womb.

Voila! You now have a homemade dental dam.
