5-year-old gets exact same haircut as best friend – The reason why is quickly going viral

Little five-year-old boy Jax Rosebush from Louisville has melted the hearts of many with his story about a haircut. Jax and his mother were discussing his somewhat wild haircut, and he funnily said to his mother that he wanted his hair cut very very short so that he would look just like his friend Reddy.

After little Jax got his haircut, his mom Lydia Stith Rosebush explained on Facebook that he couldn’t wait to get to school the next Monday because the teacher wouldn’t be able to tell the two friends apart. “He thought it would be so hilarious to confuse his teacher with the same haircut”. Even though his friend Reddy didn’t have the same skin color as Jax, he thought that the only difference between them was their haircut.

His mother Lydia was so touched by the thought process of her son that she posted a picture of the two buddies on her Facebook page. “If this isn’t proof that hate and prejudice is something that is taught I don’t know what is.” She quickly received plenty of attention on Facebook and the post went viral a couple of days afterward.

Lydia can’t believe that Jax and Reddy have been given so much attention and didn’t think that her post would go viral. “I just made the post because my kid is hilarious and cute. I never anticipated this. It just struck me as funny that Jax doesn’t even notice that Reddy is a different color. When he describes Reddy he never mentions it. I thought with all the hate in the world today, we could use this lesson from an almost 5-year-old.”

The two are inseparable and are best friends, but they almost didn’t meet at all. Reddy and his brother Enock were born in Africa and were adopted by Kevin Weldon and his wife Debbie a few years ago.

Mother Lydia also initially declined the buzz cut for Jax, because she thought it would look a bit weird on his big head. But after a while, she changed her mind and realized that this message of love that Jax was spreading was much more important than his looks.

Kevin Weldon, Reddy’s father, had the chance to speak to WAVE 3 news after their story going viral. “It’s really cool to see that move on from our family right into his relationships with his friends,” Kevin Weldon, Reddy’s father, said. “There’s an innocence children have that sometimes we lose. If we could get some of that back, I think it would be amazing.”
As for the teacher? She played along and pretended that she actually couldn’t tell the two apart. Adorable.
