How to Create Rainy Text Effect in Photoshop

In this tutorial, we’ll use a simple brush and blur filter to create rainy text effect on a window in Photoshop.

You’ll need:
Step 1
Open the rain picture, go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation and use the following settings.

Now, select Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.

Go to Image > Image Size and resize the image according to your text.

Step 2
Now, place the car image on top of the rain picture. Select Edit > Free Transform to resize the image according to your preferences. Remember to hold the Shift key while dragging the corners in order to maintain proportions.

Step 3
Change the layer blending mode of the current layer to Overlay and keep its opacity at 80%.

Select Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and apply a 5.5px blur.

Step 4
Create a new layer and name it “Text”. Set black as the foreground color, select the Brush Tool and choose the rough round bristle brush with a size of your choice. I kept mine at 30px.

Go to Window > Brush to open the Brush panel and uncheck the Transfer option.

Step 5
Write your text using the brush.

After that, decrease the brush size (maybe to 8px) and add some dripping lines below the text.

Step 6
We’ll now emphasize the text. Create a new layer, fill it with white, change its layer blending mode to Soft Light and reduce its opacity to your preference (I lowered it to 55%).

Finally, lower the Text layer’s opacity to 85%.

And we’re done!
