It’s the same like “Keep it real”, but I think “Keep it Healthy” suits better.

To live a healthy lifestyle is not an easy thing to do. People mess things up when they start traveling during the summer period. And guess what, the summer period is slowly approaching and you have to be ready for it.
When we are on our vacation, we usually get loose and used to the things we eat there. We go on vacation once in a year, right? What could possibly go wrong?
Well, I’ll tell you what. You’ve been eating healthy for a whole year. Congratulations. Is it worth it to throw that away for 10 or 15 days?
It’s really easy to break out the healthy eating habit and continue the trend of eating unhealthy after your vacation. I have a lot of clients who came back in September saying that they are ready to come back and start with the process all over again.
I feel really bad when I hear them again.
You get the point.
Maybe it’s early to share these things with you, but I want to make sure you will understand that it is not supposed to be like that.
Your mindset and body are all about healthy living now. On vacation, that mindset is left at home.
With that being said, I want to share a few tips with you that will teach you how to eat healthy food when eating out or eating on vacation.

People keep telling you that if you want to stay healthy, you should avoid eating at restaurants. It’s shouldn’t be like that, but they are right.
The healthy choices are made when you have something to eat all the time. Keep it simple. Keep it healthy.
It’s easier to make a healthy choice when you had a healthy snack before that. For example:
  •      Fruit
  •      Veggie
  •      Protein bars
  •      Water
They are always here to keep you happy and satisfied when you feel hungry. Then, there is the restaurant part. The snack before will make sure you will make a good and healthy choice when you are there. You won’t feel hungry and your recipe salad will do the trick.
Yes, you can order your recipe at any restaurant. Just ask for the ingredients and let them do the trick.
I’ve done that plenty of times.

Exploring the Menu

People who are living a healthy lifestyle are scared from the menu. There are plenty of recipes there that will make them eat everything.
You have to pass through that.
There is a trick that will boost your healthy mindset. It’s called “exploring the menu”.
This means that you need to search through the ingredients and think about the required nutrients for your body.
What’s the best option for you and your body now?

Proteins

Always look for proteins. You have to keep those muscles ready for exploring the new vacation place. After you found your proteins, look for different sides of the salads.
Keep the salad dressings away. Ask for a natural salad without seasonings or dressings and an extra slice of lemon and olive oil. Make the seasoning by yourself.

Carbs

It’s tough to find healthy carbs at restaurants, but it’s not impossible. Just opt in for something close to whole food.
Many restaurants have gluten free buns or bread. However, I won’t advise you to ask for it.
Search deeper in the menu. The best option for carbs is always rice or quinoa. If you are searching for a starter, opt in for baked potato, but let them bake it without any addition like butter or vegetable oils.
Search for the best option.

Fat

No worries. I’m talking about the healthy fat. For this, an avocado dressing or avocado salad could be your best option. Look for dishes that contain lots of healthy proteins and greens.
Once I ordered a poached egg over green avocado salad for lunch. The waiter said that this is what people order for breakfast. Who cares?

Beverages

Maybe this is the hardest part. Any waiter in the world will come to you and ask you if you would pick a drink.
Sometimes you are too shy to order water and that’s why you are going with wine or some sugar-full juice.
Avoid everything. Ask for water. The waiter is there to make you drink something that’s good for him. Water would be fine.
You can spice things up and ask if they put slices of fresh fruit in the water. They probably don’t do that, but you can try.
Alcohol will increase your appetite and lower your fat metabolism levels for at least 24 hours.

Local Food

I absolutely adore local food. Sometimes that’s a very unhealthy option. But, most of the times restaurants know that people will order it.
The ingredients in local food are fresh. So, if you are hungry and the ingredients suit your needs, ask for the local specialty.
I’ll put this in bold: Make sure the ingredients suit your needs mentioned before.
There you have it. Now you are ready to go on a vacation and protect your healthy lifestyle.
