Science Says Coffee Represents the Biggest Source of Antioxidants

Coffee lovers, it’s your turn to shine. Remember how many of your friends tell you that the coffee will damage your health?
Well, show them this and put your “I told you so” smile on your face.
Jokes aside, coffee lovers say how it’s the source of life they drink every day and the others just hate it.
The feelings and opinions are mixed. You can’t draw a line between them. However, I’ve never met true evidence saying that coffee is bad for you.
Instead, I found studies that show how coffee is good for your health.
Like these studies right here. They show how the coffee reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes, liver diseases, Parkinson’s and more.
The reason? – Its powerful antioxidants.

Coffee is packed with Powerful Antioxidants

Free radicals always attack our body. They seek that vulnerable place to get in and do some damage. These molecules can damage important cell structures like DNA and proteins.
Fear no more because coffee is here to save you.

If the free radicals are the attackers, the antioxidants will be the shield. They are donating electrons to the free radicals and disarm them.
If there weren’t these antioxidants, our bodies would’ve been called fields of diseases.
The coffee comes equipped with large amounts of powerful antioxidants. Polyphenols and hydrocinnamic acids are just a few that can be named here.
The hydrocinnamic acids are very effective and neutralize the free radicals while preventing oxidative stress. The polyphenols help prevent a large number of diseases like cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart diseases.

Coffee as the biggest dietary source of Antioxidants

A study shows how the antioxidant levels vary in different foods by serving size. Coffee is 11th on this list. It falls behind different types of berries.
Very few people eat berries, but many people drink a few cups of coffee every day.
Therefore, the total amount of antioxidants found in all of those cups of coffee you drink every day outweighs the amounts in berries. This makes the coffee a huge source of antioxidants.
Science Says Coffee Represents the Biggest Source of Antioxidants
According to Finnish studies, the coffee is the single best source of antioxidants. It provides about 64% of the total intake of antioxidants. An average intake of antioxidants was 450-600 ml/day. This is equal to 2-4 cups every day.
Other studies from Spain, Poland, France and Japan conclude that coffee is the biggest source of antioxidants in the diet.
Are there more antioxidants than those found in veggies and fruits?
There are very good foods that are rich in antioxidants. Coffee can be celebrated like one of those sources.
But, when you compare a number of antioxidants in coffee and whole plant foods, coffee will definitely fall behind them.
For maintaining great health, you need to keep a balance and consume a variety of minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants from different sources.
To conclude, even if the coffee represents one of the biggest sources of antioxidants in your diet, you should never consider it as the ONLY source.
Don’t forget to share this with all of your friends who love coffee.
