Studies Confirm: These 8 Ways Will Help You Prevent Breast Cancer

The breast cancer saga continues. I can see and hear lots of women talking about how scared they are about what’s happening in the world.
Maybe you don’t know someone who suffered from this disease, but I feel the need to tell you that it’s out there and it looks pretty serious.
According to a study by the American Cancer Society, 1 of 8 US women develops breast cancer at some stage of their lives.
The devastating disease requires lots of effort by the women to go through the difficult time.
The percentage of lost lives due to breast cancer is small, but we don’t want to risk anything and increase it.
There are different thesis of how women develop a breast cancer, but none of them are proven yet.

Because I’m a nutritionist, I will support what’s closer to me and my knowledge.
I believe that the way we eat and treat our body leads to how healthy we are. Our bad habits and dirty pleasures will harm our body at some point if we don’t do something about it.
I found eight proven ways for you to try and eliminate the slightest chance of getting a breast cancer.

Walnuts

The Marshall University School of Medicine showed that eating a handful of nuts every day will prevent breast cancer.
It’s because of the big dose of antioxidants in the nuts. On top of that, they are rich in omega-3s, and phytosterols.
According to the lead researcher Elaine Hardman, Ph.D. of the Marshall University School of Medicine:

Feast or Fungi

A recent study was conducted on more than 2,000 Chinese women. The results revealed that those who ate at least 10 grams of Button mushrooms a day were 64% less likely to develop a breast cancer.
Researchers explained that mushrooms probably curb estrogen production while giving the much-needed strength to the immune system.

Avoid Alcohol

The National Cancer Institute says that alcohol elevates the risk of breast tumors. It fuels the estrogen and progesterone.
Alcohol like beer, booze, and wine could increase the risk of breast cancer.

Drink in small doses or eliminate it completely from your lifestyle.

Pesticides

The Mayo Clinic came out with a report that women who are exposed to pesticides and have elevated pesticide levels in their breast tissue are exposed to greater risk of developing breast cancer.
If this is not a good reason to buy organic veggies and fruits, I don’t know what is.

Drink More Tea

According to research published in the Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention, women under 50 who drank three cups of tea per day noticed 37% lower risk of breast cancer.
The antioxidants in the tea help prevent the free-radical damage that leads to the disease.

Radiation Exposure

A study from 2007 says that women who are exposed to some radiation gave two times bigger risk than average for developing breast cancer.
This includes those who went to X-Ray therapy or a simple acne removal laser therapy.
The study was published in the International Journal of Cancer.

Obesity

Women who consumed two ounces of saturated fat per day for seven years gave 56% increased the chance of developing breast cancer.

The study is from 2007 and was conducted by the University of Leeds.

Stress

The fear factor plays a huge roll into developing breast and any other cancer.
A study from 2008 says that women who survived stressful events are exposed to a greater risk of developing cancer.
But that’s not all.
The study says that happy feelings like optimism and happiness could prevent breast cancer.
