Identical twins both go to hospital on same day, give birth at the exact same time

“Twinning” is a take on the popular term, “Winning!” and refers to identical thoughts or behavior between two people. While you don’t necessarily have to be twins to be “twinning,” twin sisters Sarah Mariuz and Leah Rodgers take the phrase to a whole new level!

Last July, Leah and her husband Kyle delivered their son, Reid Joseph, at 1:18 am in Denver, CO. Meanwhile, Sarah and her husband Nick welcomed daughter, Samantha Lynne, at 1:18 am in La Jolla, CA–on the same day! Grown and living hundreds of miles apart, these twin sisters still managed to give birth on the same day at the same exact time. Talk about twinning!
The story gets even crazier though. Though both sisters had planned on telling the other about her pregnancy on Thanksgiving, their “twintuition” forced them to share the news earlier than anticipated. “She showed up to my front door and I welcomed [Sarah] and Nick inside,” said Leah of the memory. “And I had this crazy twin intuition — I call it my ‘twintuition’ — and I knew she was pregnant, too.”

Sarah also had a gut feeling that Leah was pregnant but decided to let her sister share her news in her own time. When Leah – the older of the sisters by 11 minutes – decided to break the news, Sarah let her have her moment. She didn’t automatically jump in and say, “Me too!” as would be expected, but rather, rejoiced with her sister in her news. Only when she learned that their due dates were only four days apart did Sarah jump up to share her secret.
“I ran down the hallway and got the ultrasound pic out of my purse and slapped it down next to Leah’s,” said Sarah. “We were jumping up and down, just so happy for each other. Everyone was just in shock.”

Of course, throughout their entire pregnancies, they received questions about whether or not the sisters had planned the whole thing. Amazingly though, they didn’t.
“We were at our older sister’s wedding recently, and, well, two pregnant chicks together, people couldn’t stop talking about this,” Leah said. “They kept asking us, ‘Was it planned?’ No! It was kind of entertaining.”
The sisters even attribute the gender of their babies to their twin connection. “It’s kind of funny because I grew up as a tomboy, playing sports,” said Leah, who gave birth to a baby boy.
Her sister Sarah was the girlier twin and ended up having a baby girl.
With such a strong connection, two children the same exact age, and a twin connection that rivals any others, these sisters give a whole new meaning to the term “Twinning!”
