He is a 6-year-old dachshund. When his new best friend, Brooklyn Burton, saved him from his previous owners, Denis was overweight. He weighed unbelievable 25.4kg.
This brave dog’s previous diet was full of human food and fast food including pizza and burgers. I can’t figure it out how someone will give something like this to a dog.
In an interview for the Scoop, Brooklyn said:
I controlled what he ate and exercised him and the pounds just melted off. Fancy that — just like humans, it’s all diet and exercise
Three surgeries removed his excess skin. This made his walking easier.
One important thing about the whole process brought tears to my eyes.
Strangers, who were inspired by the story, covered most of the costs for these surgeries. As an act of kindness, Burton decided to open up the Denis Legacy Fund, which will help fat cats and dogs survive.
